Of course, whitewater rafting or kayaking is cool but dangerous; check restrictions in advance of a trip. A delightful panorama of beautiful Black Mountain is available from Rio Grande - Spectacle Lake, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Rio Grande - Spectacle Lake; Posos Trail is a fine local trail. Having   a fine time in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains is easy.
