You find the 8-mile-from-start-to-finish Simon to R D Bailey Lake backwaters segment of Guyandotte River close by; this is a type I-III whitewater segment. This segment of Guyandotte River is appropriate for whitewater paddlers who have been raft paddling for some time but who are not yet set for the extremely hazardous rapids.
