There's absolutely no way to get bored in West Virginia if you fancy the outdoors. On Horseshoe Run you run into the nearby Shafer to Bridge above St. George segment. This is a grade I-III, 9-mile-from-beginning-to-end stretch of whitewater. This stretch of Horseshoe Run is not a spot for beginners to come kayak paddling unaccompanied. Whitewater rafting and kayaking can become risky, so check circumstances ahead of going. Horseshoe is right by the Boundary Trail; nice skiing awaits you at Canaan Valley.
