Near Scales Trailhead is a glorious 3-mile-from-start-to-finish segment of whitewater on Big Wilson Creek, a grade III-V+, this is the Close to Mouth of Wilson section. The Close to Mouth of Wilson section of Big Wilson Creek is recommended for skilled paddlers solely. Naturally, whitewater boating is amusing but treacherous; check the latest conditions prior to departure. Going for a hike on the First Peak Trail is always a delightful adventure, and while you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Troutdale. These mountains rock, just check out all the cool things to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. A trip to a nearby bowling alley like Cardinal Lanes   is always enjoyable. Go for a hike on the Switchback Trail.
