Near Walling Bend is a splendid 17-mile-from-start-to-finish bit of whitewater on Childress Creek, a grade II-III, this is the Cayote to FM 2490 segment. It can be said that this bit of Childress   Creek is a place for fun whitewater paddling. Whitewater rapids are treacherous occurrences, so you have to check restrictions before heading out. The pretty marina of Lakewood Marina at Juniper Cove is a tremendous location to leave dry land behind. Interesting geology is available here; Walling Bend is next to Walling Bend. Rocky Creek is a tremendous site to take a look at. Don't leave Walling Bend without first going for a hike along the Lake Whitney State Park Hiking Trail, and if you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Whitney. Golf can be played at Lake Whitney Country Club, and visiting Lake Whitney State Park is a delightful thing to do. An afternoon playing golf at   White Bluff Golf Club is always a delight, and head out on the wonderful water at Harbor Master Marina.
