A close by type III-IV whitewater run can be encountered on Lookout Creek; the 2.5 miles above Blue River to Blue River section is 2.5 miles long. This section of Lookout Creek is suitable for kayak paddlers who have been whitewater paddling for a while but who are not yet prepared for the especially hazardous rapids. Whitewater kayaking and rafting could get hazardous, so check the situation in advance of a trip. A good 4.2-mile-long great outdoors hiking trail with a good 1,073-foot variation in altitude can be encountered close at hand. This is the Gold Hill Trail; it's a beautiful trek. A beautiful   three and a half hours of backcountry hiking waits for you along the Gold Hill Trail.
