The Penfield Pond to Factoryville portion on Putnam Creek is a nearby class IV-V+ whitewater sweep, 5.5 miles from start to finish. This sweep of Putnam Creek is advised for skilled kayak paddlers solely. Of course, whitewater boating is enjoyable but perilous; check current conditions before heading out. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Putnam Pond; Berrymile Pond Trail is a tremendous local trail. A game of bowling is fun at close by Adirondack Lanes, and Putnam Pond is   in the neighborhood of D.A.R. State Park which is a stunning site. A campground like this is too nice to miss. An afternoon playing golf at The Sagamore Golf Club is always a pleasure; hey, Gotta ski right?
