Cold River has a close by whitewater bit; the Duck Hole to mouth sector is a nice 14-mile-from-beginning-to-end type II-V+ bit of whitewater. This sector of Cold River is well suited for raft paddlers who have been raft paddling for a while. Whitewater kayaking or rafting may get risky, so check current conditions ahead of going. For all you boaters, Swiss Boat Rentals is a glorious marina close by. If the weather is splendid here   at Lake Harris, you can go for a hike along the Panther Peak-Upper Works Road / Sanford Lake.
