Carson National Forest is a fine site to stop at on a pretty day; if you get bored of Lower Canjilon Lake you could also have a look at close by Rinker Lake. This is a pleasant campground. Heron Lake State Park is both good and charming, and it's in the neighborhood of Lower Canjilon Lake, and Lower Canjilon Lake is not far at all from Espanola.
