Los Pinos is a very popular campground with the folks from Antonito. The glorious choice of local attractions, and the glorious variety of outdoors recreation are good motives to come.
This campground is one of the wonderful spots to camp here in the San Juan and Jemez
 
    Mountains. As if Los Pinos wasn't enough, you can also go swimming, fishing, whitewater paddling, and hiking, so there's absolutely no way to get bored.
On close by Rio de los Pinos you come across a type II-III segment of whitewater;
 the Atencio Canyon to Los Pinos section is 12 miles long. You might get covered with water whitewater kayaking and rafting this segment of Rio de los Pinos, so you should be prepared for that. If by chance you are going whitewater kayaking and rafting, you must always check conditions. Los Pinos is right by the Spruce Hole Trail, and naturally Canada de Oso flows through this vicinity. Having a great time in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains is trouble-free. One of the major highlights of the surroundings of Los Pinos is Bighorn Peak. Going for a hike along the La Manga Stock Driveway will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. You'll meet a lot of people from Antonito here,  
and do take a hike on the Posos Trail. A perfect place to visit in the neighborhood of Los Pinos is Canon Florentino, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to nearby Rinker Lake.
