So many local attractions and such an incredible array of things to do will without doubt have you coming back over and over. There's such a vast number of things to do near La Junta Canyon; it is a great escape from the routine.
 
    If by chance you're trying to locate a class II-III whitewater stretch to paddle, you're in luck; the Red River confluence to John Dunn Bridge sector is a great 8-mile-from-start-to-finish piece of Rio Grande. In general this stretch
 of Rio Grande is a cool site for whitewater kayaking and rafting. Whitewater kayaking or rafting could turn dangerous, so check the latest conditions ahead of going. Getting to Red River from La Junta Canyon is trouble-free, and a day of fishing at Solitary Angler is always a great idea. There's no way anybody can get bored here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Everybody enjoys an enjoyable journey to nearby FUN Peak, and in the wintertime you may go for a snow mobile ride at A A Taos Ski Valley Wilderness. Coming to this campground is always a delightful idea. Lakes are such calm sites, why not have a look at Latir Lakes close to La Junta Canyon; the cheerful people of San Cristobal  
like to hang out close by. Going for a wonderful snow mobile ride at Bobcat Pass Wilderness ADVNTRS on a winter day is always amusing.
