Briar Bottom Group is to be found in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Briar Bottom Group is a campground liked by the folks of Burnsville.
Curtis Creek has a nearby whitewater stretch; the Close to Old Fort segment is a tremendous 7-mile-from-beginning-to-end category IV+ stretch of whitewater. This stretch of Curtis Creek is well suited for those proficient in paddling. Unsurprisingly, paddling is enjoyable but risky; check current conditions before you go. Little Mountain Creek is a wonderful local stream;
 
Dicks Gap is a nice place to spend some time. Having a nice time in the Blue Ridge Mountains is simple. Near Briar Bottom Group you hit upon the Bald Mountain Trail which is a great hiking trail.
