A nearby category II-IV whitewater part is to be found on Vermilion River; the Eightmile Creek to Cty 24 segment is 1.5 miles long. The Eightmile Creek to Cty 24 segment of Vermilion River is well suited for whitewater boaters who have been whitewater paddling for a period of time but who are not yet ready for the very hazardous rapids. Don't go whitewater paddling prior to first checking the situation; it's hazardous business. This is a great region for folks who like lakes. Echo Lake is a lake in the neighborhood.
