Near Ax-Handle Hound is a perfect 23-mile-in-length stretch of whitewater on Little Fork River, a class I-II(IV), this is the Highway 73 to Samuelson Park segment. Don’t rely on continuing to be dry paddling this stretch of Little Fork River if by chance you're not an proficient raft paddler. Don't go paddling ahead of first checking the situation; it's treacherous stuff. Ax-Handle Hound is not far at all from Cook, and going for a hike on the Snake Trail is always a wonderful adventure. Wolfridge Golf Course is a great golf course nearby; don't leave Ax-Handle Hound without first going for a hike along the Link Lake Trail. | |

This is such a splendid campground. A round of golf at nearby Vermilion Fairways is a perfect way to kill some time. There are splendid locations to explore along the Stingy Lake Trail, and Ax-Handle Hound is not the only place nearby, Pelican Lake is a nearby lake.
