Good hiking is available along the Abol Trail, and a day on the slopes of Big Squaw is just what you need. The Saddle Trail offers hiking at its best, and you can see Barren Mountain from The Birches Shelters - Appalachian Trail. The surroundings of this campground have such a vast number of things to offer. Go for a hike on the Abot Trail, and First Debsconeag Lake is a nearby lake that you could take a look at.
