Divide Trailhead is a great campground to use as a base while enjoying the Bitterroot Range. A good 4-mile-from-beginning-to-end whitewater part on Panther Creek is close by. This, the Clear Creek to Main Salmon confluence segment, is a category III. This segment of Panther Creek is well suited for raft paddlers who have been whitewater kayaking or rafting for a period of time but who are not yet set for the genuinely hazardous rapids. You must check the situation in advance of a trip; whitewater kayaking or rafting may become hazardous. Going for a hike on the Coal Ridge Trail is always a great adventure; you'll stumble on a beautiful lake called Lake of the Rocks.   So much amusing stuff in the Bitterroot Range, just unbelievable.
