Thunder Ridge close by is a glorious ski mountain; it obtains 8 feet of ice cold snow yearly; it has 30 trails, 4 great ski lifts, and a pleasant 500-foot altitude difference. Thunder Ridge is a skiers paradise. It has 20% tough trails on its 100 acres of skiing area, and 80% beginner and intermediate trails for beginners. Housatonic River has a nearby whitewater run; the Bulls Bridge Dam to Gaylordsville sector is a perfect 2.6-mile-from-beginning-to-end type IV run of whitewater. In case you hold some paddling experience, this sector of Housatonic River may be a perfect spot for you. Of course, paddling is exciting but perilous; check restrictions
 
prior to departure. The friendly folks of Gaylordsville like to hang out close by, and as expected, everyone loves Macedonia Brook State Park.
