On Thomes Creek you come upon the nearby Above Paskenta sector. This is a type IV-V+, 22-mile-in-length run of whitewater. This run of Thomes Creek is suited for paddlers who have been whitewater rafting and kayaking for a period of time. Of course, whitewater rafting and kayaking is enjoyable but dangerous; check restrictions before you go. Great trekking awaits you on the nearby Buttermilk Trail; this hiking trail has a variation between top and bottom of 1,097 feet and is 1.2 miles in length. An average   hiking trail like Buttermilk Trail should take you more or less two hours.
