There's a good 9.5-mile-from-start-to-finish grade III-IV whitewater stretch on Kings River close by, the Garnet Dike Campground to Kirch Flat Campground sector. This sector of Kings River is advised for whitewater paddlers of medium familiarity. Whitewater rapids are perilous phenomenons, so you must check the latest conditions previous to going. There's nice hiking along the Sheep Creek Trail, and Abbott Creek is not far at all from Miramonte. All year is a tremendous time in the Central Sierra Nevada if you have a thing about the outdoors. A visit to Converse Basin   rejuvenates the spirit; a lake close by is Hume Lake. This is such a pleasant campground.
