When we first arrived at Jellystone, and proceeded to check in, my husband was approached by a small child who proceeded to punch him in the groin area 3 times. I was then hit as well. It turned out that this was the owner's child who was | |
not even scolded for striking us. We then proceeded to our cabin and unloaded our luggage and put our things where we wanted them. There was a knock on the cabin door, and it was management. He informed us that there had been a mistake
| | and that the cabin had been over booked. He then offers to put us up in a hotel if we will leave for the evening and return the next the day. We politely declined this offer because my 7 year old Daughter was in her swimsuit ready to go to the pool. Upon leaving the cabin, we could hear the Manager trying to get the people next door to leave. He was offering them the same deal, and even though the woman seemed upset and worried about doing this, she agreed to go to the hotel for the evening. Before the lady could even get her stuff out, they were standing there with all their equipment waiting to clean the place for the next occupant. You could tell the woman was extremely annoyed by | |
|
this.
We proceeded to go for a swim at the pool, which is very nice by the way. The manager's 2 young children were there, and the older one picked up my Daughters brand new swim goggles and proceeded to smash them on the pool deck.
His younger sibling was running all around the pool area throwing the guests belongings into the pool! His Mother was just sitting there allowing this to all happen. She just kept saying, ''You want me to get Daddy'' repeatedly,
and screaming no at them over and over again. She then proceeded to step down onto the pool stairs and smack her son in the mouth, in front of several witnesses! There was a small child swimming nearby when she did this, and she started
screaming and crying, because she was terrified that she would be struck as well. You could hear the other guests all chattering about the kids' behavior as well. We still continued to try and ignore them, so that our child could
enjoy her swim and hoped that they would go inside for the evening soon enough.
When we were finished we went back to our cabin to change, and there was a knock on the door. It was the Manager. It is now about 8:45 p. M. At
this point. He proceeds to tell us that the previous tenant had left a 2-dollar hand crank can opener behind, and he drove an hour back to get it! This had to be the most absurd thing that I had heard from him yet! We all decided
amongst ourselves that he was just snooping around to see what we were doing inside the cabin. I mean it had better security than the White House! There was also a man that was an employee there that was sighted by the neighbor peeping
in our windows while we were swimming! He also continuously rode back and forth snooping to see what we were doing. It was myself, my Husband, our 7-year-old Daughter, and my 57 year old Mother who were staying in the cabin. Just
a typical family outing. We had not been noisy, or given them any reason to believe that we were doing something we shouldn't be.
The next morning after breakfast my Mother took her dog out for a walk. The Manager again approached
her and said, ''We were unaware that you have a pet here. '' I am going to need you to go to the office and take care of the extra 5 dollars a day fee that will be charged for him ASAP! So she comes inside and tells us what the Manager
said to her. So my Husband and I are standing there looking at each other like, what next. Then we hear the Manager asking the neighbor how many people we have staying in our cabin! She says, 4 people, and a dog. The Manager replies
there are 7 people in there, and she says, no, there are 4 people and a pet, that's all. My Daughter has been playing with theirs since yesterday evening, that's all that is in there. So by now I am furious! I walked down to the office
to ask this man why exactly he keeps harassing us! He says we did not tell him about the dog. I said ''you are right! I didn't tell you. I told your wife when we made the reservations on the phone! She told us that the dog was going
to be 5 dollars a day extra, and that it was included in the rate, which was fine with me. '' This woman spoke broken English and I am sure she didn't understand what was being said to her! I could barely understand her myself! I
then told him, this is also the same Woman who over booked both Cabins! She obviously doesn't need to be taking information if she cannot comprehend what is being said to her.
He still insisted that we didn't tell her this,
and wanted to argue with us about it! So I then asked for a refund and told him we had had enough, which he agreed to. While my husband went inside to get our refund, he noticed that there was a notebook lying open on the desk there,
with all of the campground's guests credit card information, expiration dates, and the 3-digit codes from the back! Anyone could have walked inside and either taken that notebook, or written down the numbers inside. I couldn't believe
this! So we packed our things and drove the hours drive home, with our 7-year-old Daughters heartbroken, and her crying all the way.
There were several reasons we decided to camp here. First of all, I have camped at several
Jellystone locations across the US and had a camping experience. Secondly, the amenities that their website said the new Park offered. We did not see Yogi Bear, the costumed character as suggested the whole time we were there! The
site says ''daily Appearances'' Unless you count the giant plastic statue they have in the front of the park. The website also said they have train rides, hay rides, exercise equipment, reptile shows, crafts, a children's cinema for
the kids to watch movies, gem mining and fishing. None of which are true! I was so disappointed and so was my child! I asked the manager about this, and his reply was, that's only on the weekends! I said oh, so you guys have a lake
on the weekends and he said no. I expressed my disapproval of his website being misleading, and he had no explanation! My advice to anyone considering a stay here is DON'T! Our trip was AWFUL! Says Cynthia (Fri, 5 Jun 2009)
