Ok, you've been cooped up too long, and Patapsco Valley State Park in Maryland is a really glorious place to spend some time. The glorious people who run this place and the enormously satisfactorily managed facilities have loads of people coming here. On Gwynns Falls nearby you come across the 4-mile-long Lochearn to Franklintown Road section of class II-IV whitewater. This section of Gwynns Falls is a mid difficulty bit for whitewater boating. Unsurprisingly, whitewater boating   is amusing but dangerous; check conditions in advance of a trip. Cedar Branch is a gorgeous stream that is worth going to.
