San Marcos River Retreat, Texas     Custom Search   The San Marcos River Retreat (formerly Pecan Park Retreat) is a private camp on the banks of the San Marcos River just outside of San Marcos Texas, serving primarily scouts, youth groups, homeschool groups and church groups. We are not an RV park, in that we don’t have paved sites or 50 amp service, or cable TV. And, as you will see on our camp photo page, our campsites are in a pecan bottom along the river. But we do have water and electricity so folks with RV’s who like to “rough it” are welcome. The main thing to understand, and to make sure everyone in your group understands, is that we do not allow the consumption of alcohol in our camp. We really mean that. No beer.       No wine. It’s not that it’s against our religious beliefs or anything like that, it’s just that, over the years we got tired of dealing with drunks. And to enforce that rule, we are very careful to require everyone who camps to have   a reservation. And, to make a reservation we require the person making the reservation to state in writing (e-mail is OK) that they understand and agree to abide by our rules - especially the rule regarding the use of alcohol. Also, since our primary goal is to provide a camping facility for youth groups and church groups, we reserve the right to shut off reservations from individuals when we feel like the campground is getting close to full, or when we want to hold the remaining sites for youth groups. Finally, we are hard to find. And, to get to our facility you will have to drive through property owned by Pecan Park Campground (a full fledged RV park with all the amenities -   you can reach them at 512-396-0070 or at their website: www. Pecanpark. Com).
