| | AMENITIES: Tent camping is available Store
When I asked how my 8 year old daughter (who is an intermediate Skier and new to the terrain park) would do in this camp, I was told she would be fine as long as she can stop and turn. When I asked how many kids her age there would be for her to interact with, I was told a few her age were registered. When I said I do not have skis for her in the summer because I rent seasonally, I was told she would be set up in the Demo shop or on the mountain by Windells' staff. My daughter received no formal instruction and limited interaction with the ''coach'' in the terrain park. Also, the video reviews were limited | |
and not as advertised. This was understandable considering the lack of structured training sessions. My daughter had one child her age in the FREESKI group which also complained of the lack of instruction ( former summer 2008 Windells
| | camper ). He was a day user ( which we made our daughter after the 1st overnight due to the lack of supervision on the campgrounds for younger children ). My daughter was told that the demo shop did not have skis for her and that they had no connection on the mountain for ski rentals at the day of check-in. Equipment from the demo shop was issued finally but Skis were to big, no-one formally sized her and we had to pay for SKI rental on the mountain for a week. She complained about the boots the whole week but no one really cared to discuss equipment with an inexperienced 8 year old. I was VERY disappointed with the sales pitch from Windells' website and staff. If I ran a camp I'd | |
|
steer campers of my daughter's age and experience to a more structured neighboring camp to serve my campers and the child better. I felt like I was ''conned'' into an expensive camp unnecessarily. I have more minor complaints but these were my big three.
If my kid was 15, I may bump it up a star or two after being on the hill and campus many time during that week of summer session. Says Cramer (Thu, 19 Aug 2010)
