Doublecamp is no longer maintained by the forestry service (no trash pick up or outhouse maintenance), and some people set up housekeeping there for months (from the look of it). It is too bad, the flood ended the great camping we knew there. I would not camp there with children. Go to Jake Best. Says Tracy

It's out of the question to run out of entertaining stuff to do close to Doublecamp Campground; campgrounds like these are good. Such a splendid choice of attractions and the splendid variety of outdoors recreation are certain to keep you coming back repeatedly. Outdoors recreation is abundant, some of the entertaining stuff you can do is whitewater paddling, swimming, fishing, hiking, and playing golf, so it's just not possible to get bored. Lots of folks stay at this campground so they can go to Fort Loudoun State Park. There's a delightful category III-IV bit of whitewater close by on Citico Creek, the 4-mile-from-beginning-to-end | |

Indian Boundary to Below Pigs in Space portion. When the conditions are right this bit of Citico Creek is an exciting bit of river for whitewater paddling.
