Naturally it may be hard to get to a primitive campground such as this one, but it's worth the effort. Slate Creek has a class II-V sweep of whitewater nearby. The 23.7-mile-from-beginning-to-end Headwaters to Salmon River sector is tremendous to kayak. This sector of Slate Creek is suggested for experienced kayak paddlers only. Don't go whitewater paddling before first checking the situation; it's hazardous stuff. Lakes?
