Although this is a beautiful area, and well worth visiting, there is no campground at Cherry Springs. (There used to be many years ago.) It is now known as Cherry Springs Nature Area, and is a wonderful place for day hiking. Says Eric R.

Obviously amenities are few in a primitive campground such as Cherry Springs Campground. Getting to this primitive campground could be a little challenging, but it's well worth it. Primitive campgrounds like Cherry Springs Campground is a good way to get out in the great outdoors. The natural beauty at this primitive campground is good. Outdoors recreation is plentiful, some of the entertaining stuff you can do is swimming, playing golf, whitewater
    paddling, and fishing, so probably you want to stay a while. Hey, it's been too much time since you went outside, time has come to get out, and Cherry Springs Campground in Idaho is exactly the place.
If you are in Idaho during
 camping season, you have to go camping. Cherry Springs Campground is frequently visited by campers from Pocatello.
The good local attractions and all the outdoors recreation are guaranteed to keep you coming back over and over.
There's so many things to do close to Cherry Springs Campground, and it is a delightful campground.
A good 15.6-mile-from-start-to-finish whitewater section on Portneuf River is nearby. This, the Johnny Creek to I-86 segment, is a category I-V. This segment of Portneuf River is suitable for raft paddlers who have been whitewater rafting or kayaking for a period of time but who are not yet prepared for the extremely hazardous rapids. Check the latest conditions
before you go on the whitewater, otherwise it's not safe and sound. Take a side journey to Kinney Creek, and Wheatgrass Bench is pretty nearby if you're in a beach type of mood.
