On Animas River you encounter the close by Tacoma to Rockwood Rail Yard segment. This is a type IV-V, 2.6-mile-from-beginning-to-end section of whitewater. You are expected to get drenched whitewater kayaking or  
rafting this section of Animas River, so you should be prepared for that. Don't overlook to check circumstances in advance of a trip whitewater kayaking or rafting to ensure your protection.
