A close by grade II whitewater run is to be found on Rio Grande; the Wagon Wheel Gap to South Fork segment is 12 miles long. Do depend on maintaining yourself dry raft paddling this run of Rio Grande. Check the situation in advance of a trip on the whitewater, or else it's not secure. A pretty lake like Lost Lake right next door to Palisade Campground is a magnificent location to have a look at; if you like skiing, you're in luck; Wolf Creek is quite near. All year is a glorious time in the San   Juan and Jemez Mountains if you like the outdoors.
