 Nearby there is a tremendous 4-mile-from-start-to-finish type V whitewater stretch, the Finney Creek Road Bridge to bridge at mouth portion of Finney Creek. You are likely to get drenched paddling this stretch of Finney Creek, so you should be ready for that. Whitewater rapids are treacherous occurrences, so you should check conditions before you go. 6.2 miles of beautiful great outdoors trail can be found nearby; this is the Finney Peak Trail in possession of an elevation variation of 2,658 feet. More or less one day of difficult backcountry hiking on the Finney Peak Trail is time well used. 1,343 feet of variation in height and 2.8 miles of backcountry backpacking is what you get at  
Gee Point Trail, a lovely wilderness trail in close proximity. The Gee Point Trail is tough; it requires something like three hours to walk.
