Several folks camp here during their trip to Mount Mitchell State Park. There's a glorious 7-mile-from-start-to-finish grade IV+ whitewater run on Curtis Creek nearby, the Close to Old Fort section.   This section of Curtis Creek is appropriate for paddlers who have been kayak paddling for a period of time. Whitewater rafting and kayaking may become treacherous, so check the latest conditions ahead of going. What would winter be without some skiing at Sugar Mountain, and unsurprisingly, everybody loves Mount Mitchell State Park. And if that's not enough there's lots more fun stuff to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Hiking along the Bald Mountain Trail is great fun, and Bald Mountain Lake is a delightful lake close by. This is really a tremendous campground. Going for a great fishing trip at Granddaddy Fly Fishing Experience is always fun. If you're a golfer then a pleasant nearby   course is Grassy Creek Golf Course, and folks from Little Switzerland love to come here.
