There's a great class II-III   part of whitewater nearby on Sacandaga River, the 3.5-mile-long Stewarts Bridge Reservoir to Hudson River portion. This portion of Sacandaga River is appropriate for whitewater paddlers who have been raft paddling for a bit but who are not yet prepared for the extremely risky rapids. Whitewater rapids are risky things, so you must check current conditions prior to departure. Going to Moreau Lake State Park next to Fort Bink Campground is a pleasant thing to do, and you can see Jones Mountain from Fort Bink Campground. So much enjoyable stuff to do in the Adirondack Mountains, not enough time.
