Outdoors people generally have a thing about this segment of Montana. Alright, it's about time you went camping, so what do you say? Howlin'mad Moon in Montana is exactly what you need. The 1.5-mile-in-length Quake Lake to 1 1/2 mile downstream segment is a grade IV-V segment of whitewater on Madison River. Don’t depend on staying dry paddling this bit of Madison River. Always check restrictions prior to departure paddling given that paddling is a dangerous activity. On a splendid day at Howlin'mad Moon you can take a hike along the Rock Creek Pack Trail, and a tour here wouldn’t be complete without a journey to nearby Henrys Lake State Park. Near Howlin'mad
 
Moon you stumble on the Dry Creek Trail which is a great hiking trail. Head out on the delightful water at Kirkwood Resort & Marina, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Cutoff Trail.
