Near Lakeside Camping is a great 2-mile-in-distance bit of whitewater on Penobscot River, a type I-II, this is the Mattawamkeag to Winn segment. This bit of Penobscot River is a site where novices should come kayak paddling. Whitewater rapids are hazardous phenomenons, so you have to check restrictions in advance of a trip. Going for a glorious fishing trip at New England Outdoor Center is always fun, and why not check out a swamp like Eighteen Bog since you're here at Lakeside Camping. The smiling people of Lincoln like to hang out close by, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Shore Road Trail. | |

This is such a good campground. Golf can be played at JATO Highland Golf Course, and if the weather is magnificent, you can go for a hike along the Gray Ledge Dam Trail.
