I was just at Hickory Hills Campground. Yes the owner had stuff going on on the weekend, bingo and a DJ. However the campground itself is less than desirable. Showers and toilets are in bad shape, 90% of the toilets were plugged up or overflowing. The children's play area was in bad shape with rusted or wrecked toys laying around. The miniature golf course looked as if a tornado hit it, completely trashed. The fishing pond/swimming area | |
looked pretty bad, would not swim in it. Will not go back... Says Not Happy (Tue, 27 May 2008)
Hickory Hills Campground is in Spencer, and it is for seasonal campers. Says Ken (Mon, 29 Jun 2009)
The owner was rude
| | and unprofessional. Its more a trailer park than campground as most sites are seasonal from Apr-Oct. The few weekend sites are in full sun with zero shade in sight. All the facilities including shelter house and showers are 1/2 a mile from the weekend area... With only porta-potties within walking distance. The swimming hole is down hill from the waste water dump site and smelled like it. The stores prices are outrageous and staff acts as if it's a bother that you are there. In short it was a horrible experience full of rude people who seemed to want to be somewhere else themselves. There are many great campgrounds in the Spencer area this one should be avoided.
