Etna, 3333 m
Mount Etna is probably the most active volcano in Europe and the oldest recorded active volcano in the world

Gran Paradiso 4061m
The ascent of the Gran Paradiso by the normal route can be one of the easiest of the Alpine 4000'ers. However, the mountain is quite exposed to the weather, and should not be attempted without adequate experience and fitness. The summit day of 1350m is one of the longer Ordinary Routes, and some degree of acclimatization is essential. The route starts from Pont (1960m), a tiny hamlet at the end of Val Savarenche (one word on some maps) which runs south from the Aosta valley.

Ice Climbing in the Alps
A guide to selected ice climbing locations in the French and Italian Alps. This area is one of the most well known and accessible winter playground in the entire world, and every iceclimber should come over here at least once in a lifetime. Since there are litterally thousands of icefalls sparse along the Alps, this guide cannot be a complete list of sites, and in most cases it cannot offer the complete list of climbs of each site. However you will find a great deal of informations, pictures and detailed descriptions of the best and most representative climbs of the area. As of today the guide includes detailed descriptions of 65 icefalls plus essential indications on 89 more climbs, for a total of over 21180 meters of climbing

Monte Rosa Ostwand from Colle Battisti
Macugnaga at the end of the Anzasca valley is the starting point for an impressing view on the Monte Rosa east face (between 1800 and 4637 m). From the village Pecetto a frequented path leads to the Zamboni e Zappa hut. From there one can choose between the ascent to Pizzo Bianco (3215 m) or the Punta Battisti (2754 m) via the Colle Battisti.

Monte Viso
Ascent of Monviso by Sir W.M. Conway in 1894, the Monviso Loup Trail and the Monviso Lakes’ Hike

Piz Corandoni (2659 m)
The Cardagno hut near the Ritom lake is the starting point for this easy hike in the Gotthard area. Via the 'Lago di Dentro' Piz Corandoni - a less known summit with a fine view - can easily be reached.

Pizzo Scalino - Bernina
Summit with magnificent view and easy glacier crossing in the southern Bernina. The starting point (Zoya hut) is reached from the south via a 'side' valley of the Valtelline near Sondrio. A short walk to the Bignami hut opens an impressive view on the south faces of Piz Zupo and Piz Argient.
