A Walking Guide to the Massif de la Chartreuse
The Massif de la Chartreuse (location map) is one of the finest walking areas in France, and yet is little frequented by visitors. It does tend to be well known to cavers, as it is also one of the finest caving areas in France, with several hundred kilometres of caves known in its 2,000 sq. kilometres. In 1995 it was made a Regional Nature Park in recognition of its scenic beauty and cultural heritage.

Dent Blanche
Dent Blanche is one of the 4000 m peaks of the Alps that are usually found closer to the end of the collection list. About thirty peaks are easier and therefore quickly "done". But for a normal route graded III one has to wait for a good oportunity.

Hike in Corsica
The GR20 is certainly not the easiest of all long distance mountain walks. A good head for heights and a good condition are required. Certainly not recommended for newbie hikers!
Hiking in the Pyrenees
The Pyrenees is a range of mountains running along the border between Spain and France, in Europe. They are approximately 600 km. long, but for a traveller on foot, the distance to walk the entire range is approximately 850km. There are several local and regional paths in these beautiful mountains, as well as the two major "entire range" paths: the GR10 and the HRP.
Hiking Randonnée - Beyond the French Riviera
The South of France has got to be one of the finest places in the world for hiking. I make this controversial statement because of the tremendous number of hiking trails, the tremendous variety of trails, and the proximity of the trails to wherever you are in this region.

Jura: From Montbéliard to Morez
The FFRP "topoguide" you need for this area is called "Lacs et plateaux du Jura, Gorges du Doubs", reference 511. It describes the GR5-stretch between Nommay and Nyon, and also the GR de Pays (regional trail) "Tour du pays de Montbéliard".

The Balcony of the Cote d'Azur
This hike follows the international GR51 (Grande Randonnée) trail roughly east-west along the coast. The eastern end begins at the train station in Cap Martin (between Monte-Carlo and Menton). There's a good steep climb at the beginning, but once you're up there where the cool air and the view is, it's pretty much flat, except for the occasional drop down to a valley and back up again.
Tour des Cevennes (GR 67)
The tour des Cevennes is a 135 km long footpath which starts and ends in Anduze. It runs through both open land and forest. The landscape is a bit mountainous.

The following pictures were taken on a hike from the Nuova Rifugio Elena to the Aiguille des Angrionettes in the upper part of the Val Ferret.
