Hours, Seasons Winter: 8:00 through 4:30, Monday through Friday. Summer: 8:00 through 6:00, daily. Getting There PLANE - The most direct way by commercial plane is to fly into Anchorage, AK then by one of the air taxi to the Gulkana Airport in Glennallen,AK.
CAR - Two gravel roads enter the park; the McCarthy Road and Nabesna Road. Some car rental companies prohibit clients from accessing these roads. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION - No public transportation. Getting Around Backcountry Connections, van service to McCarthy/Kennicott

Special Use Permits ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES
ATV Permits are issued to document the type and amount of use on trails, identify the location of users in the event of an emergency,
and to ensure users are aware of the restrictions governing the use of ATVs on park lands. ATV permits are REQUIRED for all RECREATIONAL users. Recreational users are individuals who do not reside within a local resident zone community surrounding the park.
SUBSISTENCE
HUNTING
Sport hunting is ONLY allowed within the NATIONAL PRESERVE and must be conducted in accordance with state law. Subsistence hunting by local rural residents is authorized in both the park and preserve. A local rural resident is any person who has his/her primary home
within the resident zone for the park as defined by federal regulation or has a subsistence permit issued by the superintendent. For further information on subsistence and eligibility, contact the park.
