Little River Canyon National Preserve, Alabama

  A trip to Little River Canyon National Preserve is a glorious choice when you must spend some time in the fresh air. This is no location for people who don’t like to have fun. Little River Canyon National Preserve is fine enough to spend more than a day at, De Soto State Park is a fine local campground, and you can run the rapids of Wolf Creek. Railroad Valley is near Little River Canyon National Preserve and is certainly a great place to visit, and camping at Adams Outdoors is always a wonderful experience.
There are lots of fun pastimes for everybody
    to like. Little River Canyon National Preserve is a common place to spend time for people from Fort Payne. After a long day outdoors Best Western Rainsville Inn is a good place to spend a night or two, and Little River Canyon National Preserve is next to Beeson Gap which is unquestionably
worth stopping at.
There are some fine whitewater spots on Bear Creek. There's so much to do here at Little River Canyon National Preserve that you need to camp here for a while, Knotty Pine Resort is a fine spot for that. If you come at the right time of year, Johnnies Creek offers some fine whitewater, and Little River Canyon National Preserve is a great spot to visit for more than one day, Wills Creek RV Park is a great spot to camp nearby. Little River Canyon National Preserve is a glorious wilderness area that everyone loves.

High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 40's while Little River Canyon National Preserve nighttime low temperatures during the winter are in the 20's.

in the vicinity of Little River Canyon National Preserve and is always a joy to explore It's always great to pop by Manitou Spring. After a long day outdoors Fort Payne-Days Inn is a great site to spend a night or two; there's whitewater on Hicks Creek for all you adrenaline junkies. At Little River Canyon National Preserve you find lots of outdoors recreation that you can use.
Rainsville Country Club is a great golf course nearby, and people from Fort Payne love to come here. A tremendous place for whitewater paddling near Little River Canyon National Preserve is Little River, and Rodeway Inn Fort Payne is a pleasant location to get some rest. A fine nearby hotel is Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Ft. Payne, Al.
The wonderful beauty of Little River Canyon National Preserve is there for your viewing happiness. A good deal of rainfall falls at Little River Canyon National Preserve; during the month of March you get the most rain around here; October meanwhile is the driest month.

Little River flows for most of its length atop Lookout Mountain in northeast Alabama. The river and canyon systems are spectacular Appalachian Plateau landscapes any season of the year. Forested uplands, waterfalls, canyon rims and bluffs, stream riffles and pools, boulders, and sandstone cliffs offer settings for a variety of recreational activities. Natural resources and cultural heritage come together to tell the story of the Preserve, a special place in the Southern Appalachians.

The park is open year round. The Canyon Mouth Park Unit is a day use area.

ATV PERMIT
Free!
Operators of All-Terrain-Vehicles (ATV's) must have a permit. User's must be at least 16 years old and have a picture ID. The permit is free and must be obtained in person from any Law Enforcement Ranger or at Park Headquarters.



CAMPING

DeSoto State Park
Open All Year
Offers 78 sites located in a beautiful setting. Campsites are well spaced with natural flora for privacy. The campground has 58 water and electric sites, and 20 water, electric and sewer sites, 10 of which are pull-thru sites. Comfort stations with restrooms and hot showers are located in the campground.

Motel rooms all have telephone and cable TV, your choice of king or double beds. Comfortable A-frame chalets are surrounded by Northeast Alabama's beautiful woodlands and rolling terrain. Enjoy a leisurely hike down to the West Fork of Little River right out of your back door. Chalets are complete with two bedrooms. One has a double bed and a sleeping loft with two twin beds.

Chalets have cable TV, linens and are setup with basic cookware, tableware, and utensils. All Chalets have fireplaces. Rustic cabins are available in a variety of occupant sizes built in the mid 1930's.
