El Morro National Monument, Zuni Mountains, New Mexico

  It's a popular place to travel to for the populace of Ramah. Fun activities are plentiful; there's always something to please everyone. You just should go for the Zuni Mountains. Camping at Nutria Campground is always a great experience; a great location close by is Pasture Hollow. Be careful coming to El Morro National Monument, you might not ever want to go home again. There's so much to do here at El Morro National Monument that you need to camp here for a while, El Morro RV Park is a nice place for that.
El Morro National Monument is a good spot for
    a spree when you need to get out. El Morro National Monument has great outdoors recreation, so you can have loads of fun. Summertime at El Morro National Monument arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. The wintertime comes
with highs in the 40's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at El Morro National Monument drop into the 10's.
Ramah Reservoir Dam is a lovely location close to El Morro National Monument, and if you came to camp Tanaja Trading Post is a magnificent place to do that. You'll meet a lot of folks from Ramah here; nearby you stumble on good places like Chees Hollow. The summit of Antenna Hill can be made out from El Morro National Monument; since you're here why not explore Coal Hollow.

Rock' is a soft sandstone monolith, rising 200 feet above the valley floor, on which are carved hundreds of inscriptions. The monument also includes pre-Columbian petroglyphs and Pueblo Indian ruins.

Daily, summer: Visitor Center: 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Trails: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; winter: Visitor Center: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Trails: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Closed December 25 and January 1.

Getting There
CAR - 56 miles southeast of Gallup, NM via Highways 602 and 53; 42 miles southwest of Grants, NM via Highway 53.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION - No public transportation to the area.

Weather & Climate
Winters can be cold, with snow and wind. Summers are hot with possible thunder showers.

Accessibility
The parking lot, picnic tables, campground, and visitor center are wheelchair accessible. The Inscription Rock Trail is paved and wheelchair accessible with assistance. The Mesa Top Trail is not.

Exhibits - The museum has exhibits on the 700 years of human activity at El Morro.
