Dear Webers;
I had a great time at Webers Landing with my family when I was a kid. I was Rali Albrights son and I'll never forget Captain Weber as he was quite a character, sort of John Wayne like in my memory, and his wife Helen who was a wonderful person. I don't know if their family still own and run the place, but I'll never forget them or the wonderful times I had white bass fishing there with my family. I hope all the Webers are doing fine, and wish you all the best. I retired from the Army in 1996 and now live in Richmond Hill, Georgia just outside of Savannah, Georgia and work for the Army as a civilian. I would like to hear from any of the Webers who may remember my and my family and I wish you all the best. Nordic Mountain can make snow on 100% of its terrain including the tubing park. With the improvements in snowmaking technology, they can produce higher quality snow and do so in warmer temperatures. In the past few years Nordic Mountain has more than doubled its snowmaking capacity. The goal is to open earlier, close later, and remain open on marginal winter days. One of the biggest projects to improve snowmaking at Nordic Mountain will serve a dual purpose. The addition of a 10 million gallon snowmaking pond will not only supply more cold water for snowmaking, but in the summer of 2009 is scheduled to be made into the second wakeboard winch park in the country.
Nordic Mountain has always been considered a great place to learn. It is known as a great family hill at a very affordable price. That tradition continues while changes like improved terrain parks and new glade trails help to keep the skiers and snowboarders coming back.

This is a 4-5 hour drive from the n/w side of Chicago . . . and *definately* worth it. Some buddies and I go up for a few days every winter and I have to say, this is the best you're going to find without doubling your driving time or hopping on an airplane....i have lived and snowboarded in Colorado and Austria.
For the Midwest only Lutsen in Minn. can be compared!
The vertical keeps you challenged unlike the resorts in the U.P. and the rest of the Midwest! Only 3 hrs from Milwaukee!!!
love it if you are in the Midwest and can't head WEST!!!...Granite Peak is I think the best ski area in the region. There are lots of runs for everybody. I like the black diamonds but my wife and kids like the blues and greens so this is perfect for us since it has plenty of all three.... |
