Coles Creek State Park
16 miles away We had a great time this past weekend! Almost every site in the campground is a good one! Great small beach area for the kids, well monitored by at least 3 lifeguards at a time! Employees drive around all the time checking things out, picking up your garbage and just chatting with the campers. The facilities are all new and the cleanliness is impressive. The showers were too HOT, though. Couldn't adjust temperature. My daughter loved watching the ships go by! If I wasn't already settled in my own hometown, I could easily become a river-rat! Nothing compares to the beauty of the Thousand Islands and the St. Lawrence! There is no concession as shown on the campground map. The town of Waddington is a skip away (we found soft ice cream at the local bowling alley!) There is a wonderful rec center for the kiddos, though, with activities going on all the time (except Sun & Mon). If it's too rainy for your visit, the City of Massena is only 15 mins away and you can shop in their mall or see a movie to pass the time....
Oswegatchie River - East Branch
24 miles away Would you please let me know what the kyaking conditions are from Inlet Road to the village of Wanakena. I am going to be at Wanakena this coming weekend and am considering kyaking from Inlet Road to Wanakena. Please let me know if the water level is high enough to float with limited carries. Also, the group consists of limited experienced kyakers. I noticed from Google Satelite photos that there seems to be sections of white water - I am not sure what season the photo is from but one phots seems to be from summer and another closer to Wanakena, Spring with considerable runoff. I noticed from your description above that it is class II-IV Water. Please describe the degree of difficulty in general for that distance, and if coming into class IV areas are they visible and easily avoided by carries. If so, how long and difficult are the carries, and how many ? Your information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Rick McCurdy...

Gray Rocks
88 miles away I need some help: Around 1960 My wife and I visited mt. Tremblont to ski. We stayed in a little Auberg I St. Jovite and had planned to ski at the nearest ski area, but the snow was bad and we decided to ski the north face, when we drove up there, I was confused because in looked like a resort rather than just a ski area. We saw a sign saying ''Grar rocks. We parked and skied a trail named ''sissy schuse'' using a single chair lift and having warm-up breaks in a log hut, that looked like a lumber camp mess hall. Further we have a friend who says that she and her husband went there for their honeymoon and stayed in a ''cabin''. Here is my question: Is there anything in what I have described above that matches the facts as they were around 1960. When we skied there, I thought that we were just skiing ''the North Face (rather than some other ski facility on the same mountain) , but now I think it may have been a gray Rocks ski area....
Whiteface Mountain
88 miles away 11 PHOTOS With the greatest vertical drop in the east at 3,166 feet, very few resorts do this better than Whiteface. With long runs over three separate, yet connected areas, you'll spend maximum time on the snow and minimum time on the lifts. There's also Little Whiteface with almost 2,500 vertical feet. And don't forget Kids Kampus which has separate lifts, lodge, ticketing, rentals, snowsports school and child care. This is an outstanding experience for young beginners in a low-key, safe environment. A new area opens during 2008/2009 season. Lookout Mountain looms over the horizon covered with pristine snow. For centuries this is how it has been. Until now. This season, Lookout Mountain will be yours for the first time. This means miles of new trail. Literally undiscovered country for you to fall in love with. Whiteface has another face, so Lookout. For more information about Whiteface, please visit their website at www.whiteface.com...
