Calloway Creek
14 miles away
Calloway Creek is in danger. A developer from Lexington is planning to put 2300 homes and apartments on the pallisades just above the Kentucky River. Calloway Creek is definitely in danger. The local residents are trying to stop development and have been somewhat successful until this spring. The Developer still doesn't have approval to develop, but he is starting to bulldoze roads in the flood plain. He claims it is for agricultural access, but he has drawn up plans and submitted to local authorities. He has been turned down, but he continues to fight. We need help from environmentalists to stand against this development. Please private message me if you have any ideas. My email address is wheelkat @gmail. com...

Hickman Creek
15 miles away
I have been rideing this strectch of creek about 4 times a summer for the past six years. Woundn't call it rapids though, most of the time it is quite shallow, alot of packing your boat. Flood water is a differt story. It's quite dangerouse but it can be done, I was able to navigate 9 miles of the creek while flooding before I lost my kayak to the creek. Beautiful ride though, bring a fishing pole, lots of small fish!...

17 miles away
Howard's Creek can be a dangerous creek due to fallen trees and fences. Howard's is famous for wood and wire in the flow. Howard's is NOT a beginner stream as this article seems to indicate....

Elkhorn Creek
23 miles away
I like this trip, except for the portage around the dam it's a great ride, and a good way to learn reading a river. We always go the entire 13 miles back to the outfitter, the second half is primarily flat water but a nice float. ...

Gilbert Creek

I currently live on the creek and when it rains hard it is easily a class III. I've run it several times and it is definitely a difficult, but fun, run...I just so happenned to google Gilberts Creek. I was raised on Gilberts creek and I have walked every inch of the creek many times. To say it is whitewater is pretty funny, except where the river runs into the Kentucky River you can't float a boat on Gilberts creek. Most of the creek is barely ankle deep. You may want to check your info. FYI. WH....

Glenn's Creek

Sunday, we all packed up and headed up to Perfect North. I r...There's not many ski resorts around these parts but Perfect North is quite nice hill to ski on if you live in the area and you need to ski a bit....
