Hunkerson Gap Trail
17 miles away
The Hunkersons Gap trail is not the most difficult trail to hike yet of offers many terrain challenges along the way.  I have completed this hike several times yet each trip offers a whole new adventure.  I have encountered bear, deer, turkeys, and snakes on this trail. So, hit the trail, who knows maybe you will be the one who uncovers old man Hunkersons gold!!...

Beldor Ridge Trail
18 miles away
The trail may be fine, but I would avoid venturing too deep into Beldor hollow road. These people have lived here for a very long time, and ''dont take kind to strangers''. Just to give you guys an idea, my father worked as a volunteer fire fighter for the Elkton fire department. They got a call for a fire and took a wrong turn. When they went to turn around they had a car, that was not a car that ran, placed in the middle of the road. Quite a feat. After an altercation with the shotgun wielding locals, they were finally pursuaded that someone could be dying while they werent allowing them out. Finally they moved the car back.

Same for several of the hollows around elkton(pronounced ''hollar'' by the local folk). Beldor, Lynnwood, to a lesser extent thouroughfare area. Also Bryant Hollow can be a little rough if they dont reconize you as well....

Middle River

Heading back to river this week August 27, 2007. Here is one of the fishing pics from the last trip on the river a couple weeks back in earlier August....
KOA campground is along a portion of the Middle River. Took kayak along to do some floating and fishing.Being not familiar with the area, had a hard time finding a spot to launch which was not private property. Went about 1 mile up river from campground and found a pullover on the road edge. Launched yak and started fishing. The water level is way down, almost too low to float. The fishing was AWESOME and caught plenty of smallmouth and even some nice sunfish. Couple of the smallmouths were very nice. Floated river two times over the weekend and had a good time. Several rock gardens that require walking and dragging kayak. All in all a good trip despite going solo and not knowing the area....

In the last four years, Bryce Resort has made significant upgrades to the snow making equipment to allow more efficient production and flexibility. Also new is a carpet lift escalator to transport advanced beginners effortlessly to the top of the Bunny slope.
The Ridge Runner's Snow Tubing Park continues to be a widely popular place where everyone can safely slide in the snow. Our carpet lift carries you quickly back to the top of the start hill. It's great fun for all ages! In addition, Bryce Resort offers a fully stocked Ski Boutique, a certified ski repair shop, and a rental shop for ski and snowboard equipment.

Snowshoe
77 miles away
Snowshoe has the biggest elevation drop of any skiresort in the region which in my oppinion makes it a realtively great ski resort. You can get more skiing done before you have to get on the lift again. Which I think is very important in a ski resort....
