Dan River Campground
18 miles away
Dan River Campground is a family destination campground located in the peaceful Dan Valley. We are on historic plantation property with woods and fields, Sharp's Creek and of course the Dan River. Tent and RV sites are a short walk from the river and are available for reservation at our small family park.ÿ Activities include canoeing, kayaking and tubing on the river with Dan River Adventures, basketball, horseshoes, table tennis, fishing, summer swimming, walking trail, river access and volleyball.ÿ WIFI is included with daily rate camping and available with a small fee with discount weekly and monthly rate camping.ÿ Dan River Campground is 30 minutes from Winston Salem, Greensboro, Martinsville, VA, Hanging Rock State Park (great hiking) and Haw River State Park.ÿ We are 20 miles from Martinsville Speedway, 7 miles from Mayo River State Park and 6 miles from Madison. State Route 220 is 31/2 miles from the park where you can find Lowe's and Super Walmart....

Deep River
21 miles away
My wife and I decided to give this route a try, and we found that a couple of miles down river from the put-in site, there is a big dam that is at least 20 feet tall with no way around it.  We ended up walking 2 miles back to the car to come pick up our kayaks.  When we got home we looked at satellite pictures using google maps and it looks like there are 2 more dams before you would reach the take out site.  I do NOT recommend this route. Paddlers beware!...

Dan River
27 miles away
Hwy 772 access as been roped off with No-Trespassing signs. This access is used a lot during the summer months, but evidently it is private property or someone is confused.

Thought I'd let you know this since it's only a few miles from my house. That's a nice place to get in the river, but evidently somebody don't like the general public to use it. ...
