Rock Lake
10 miles away
1 PHOTO
In the 1939's my grandfather built the first cabin on Rock Lake.  He built a log cabin form the trees cut down to form the lake.  The cabin was called Shamrock Shanty.  I caught my first at Rock Lake and learned how to row a boat. The cabin has been torn down, but I will never forget the good times my family had there....
A small, lake-side community in rural West Virginia....

Deckers Creek
23 miles away
It is by far the most dangerous run in WV and one of the riskiest in the country. Be aware!...

Tucked away in the Mountains of Garrett County, lies Wisp Resort, Maryland's only 4-season ski, golf and recreational destination resort. With a world renowned energy-efficient snowmaking system and over 100 inches of annual snow, Wisp's 132 acres of ski terrain provide snowsport enthusiasts an incredible winter playground. Non-skiers and boarders won't be left out, in fact, they'll have as much trouble deciding what to do next with all that Wisp Resort and the Deep Creek Lake area have to offer: mountain coaster, dog sledding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobile tours, ice fishing, ice climbing, horse-drawn sleigh rides and more. And for those who don't like to go outdoors, we've got something for you too - the Wisp Resort Hotel's indoor pool and hot tub, fitness center, Sewickley Spa, arcade and let's not forget the essentials for any great winter vacation - food and drink. Make Wisp Resort your second home with luxury real estate opportunities for every lifestyle.
Cheers!
See you on the slopes......

I bring my family here a few times each winter and we all love it. Lots of good runs for everybody....

Snowshoe
59 miles away
Snowshoe has the biggest elevation drop of any skiresort in the region which in my oppinion makes it a realtively great ski resort. You can get more skiing done before you have to get on the lift again. Which I think is very important in a ski resort....

Stay slopeside at the new Timberline Resort Hotel. There is live music every weekend at Timber's Pub and Fireside Grill located in the main lodge. March 20-21 is our annual Snowy Luau. It's the biggest party of the year, with a torch light parade and Polynesian dancers. Check out our website www.timberlineresort.com or call 1.800.SNOWING for more information....
