Dexter Shores Mobile Home and RV Park
 | 18 miles away 2 PHOTOS ... Osprey in one of the trees outside the Park, but you can view it the RV area. They are noisy but fun to watch as the parents bring fish and snakes to their young for food. We also have a semi-resident, the Great Blue Heron; it passes through in the morning and evening and is awesome. There are hawks, eagles, red-winged blackbirds, starlings, blue jays, and an occasional kingfisher landing in the bushes or flying by. A birding trail is located in nearby Oakridge which is 22 miles from Dexter Shores.
During the summer months, there are a variety of activities as depicted on the handout. All are fun, especially the Blackberry Jam with the many events going on in Lowell which is only 2 miles from our Park.
As July turns to August, the blackberries begin to ripen and are ready to pick off the bushes in our Park and in the nearby areas. It's fun to just pick and eat some as you go!
In the fall you'll see an array of colors in the various deciduous trees and shrubs along with the stately evergreen trees staying their wonderful lush green color.

Row River
 | 21 miles away ...he Row River. The most important thing I can add to your river description is that every year there is a death at Wildwood Falls due to people's lack of experience with the terraine, waterfalls, swimming, boating, etc, (sometimes a year goes by and there is no death here, but that is rare). The most common cause of death or serious injury to people is getting in the water when the water is too high. Because the falls have a nice round diving basin, and a small concealed cave behind it, people are drawn to the falls before the water level is really safe in the late spring and early Summer. It is safest in July through late August. The cave is a source of drowning because people go into it easily with the force of the water but cannot get back out because the water pushes then back into the cave, and then they run out of air. There is also a lot of submerged debris that snag boaters and swimmers alike. These full sized logs and branches catch people's legs, arms, and smash their heads with the force of the waterfall pounding them and the debris then drags them down in the undertow belo... |
Calapooia River
 | 23 miles away Be mindful that the old pilings from the dam that was removed still exist and I believe present a hazard that must be scouted. If you run it before June there is likely no problem at all. Enjoy. The dam site is two miles upriver from Brownsville out Kirk Avenue and Northern Drive. I would hate to see your watercraft buggered up. It is a lovely river.... |
