Lake Catoma
The crappie didn't corporate so we started bass fishing.  Caught several spots and one largemouth.  Total for the day was 23 spots one largemouth and one crappie that we kept.  The bass were caught off a white spinnerbait with a chartreuse pork trailer and gold willow leaf.  The crappie was caught off a white panfish assassin.  The wind blew us all over the lake and the temp was dropping.  Cold front must have pushed the crappie back to deeper water.  Surface temp was 58.  April 14th 2009...I fished Catoma today and didn't catch a single fish (of any species)  Mainly targeted those crappie everybody has been catching, but they must have had a case of lock jaw.  After about three hours of nothing I called it a day....I am not sure how the low water conditions of this past summer and fall will affect the fishing on Catoma in the long run, but my girlfriend and I caught our limit of Crappie, two pushing the three pushing the three pound mark . We were fishing around the Hwy 157 bridge with black/chartreuse grizzly jigs....
