Duncan is the biggest little town on the Old West Highway. It sits along the beautiful Gila River just five miles from the New Mexico border, guarded on all sides by mountains laden with secret back roads, wild rivers and seasonal streams, abandoned mines and exotic wildlife.|
Duncan is free of the hustle and bustle of city life, a place where the traffic is light, the air is fresh, the sky is big, and people welcome visitors with warm interest.
The Duncan Valley, with its mild weather during fall, winter and spring and its many fertile farms, is alive with Sand Hill Cranes for about fours months every year. You can also find Blue Heron that live here year-round. Bald Eagles nest in trees along the river and Red-tailed Hawks are a common sight.
Right now we're getting a preview of the summer monsoon season, with lightning and thunder and welcome cool rain.
