Shirley Meadow close by is a delightful ski area; it gets blanketed by 18 feet of wonderful snow every winter; it has 7 trails, 3 different ski lifts, and a wonderful 600-foot altitude difference. The blue and green trails account for 70% of the trails at Shirley Meadow; no wonder this ski area is such a wonderful place. The black and red trails make up 30% of the 80 acres of skiing land at Shirley Meadow. On nearby Brush Creek you come upon a type V segment   of whitewater; the Rincon Camp to Kern River portion is 1.5 miles long.
