Crystal Mountain is loved by skiers; it has 65% easy ski runs and 35% tough ski runs. A total of 2,600 acres of skiable territory in all. On American River nearby you come upon the 7.5-mile-from-start-to-finish Lodgepole Campground to Hell's Crossing segment of category II-III+ whitewater. You might get drenched raft paddling this stretch of American River, so you should be prepared for that. Naturally, raft paddling is cool but perilous; check circumstances
 
before heading out. Cougar Valley Trail is 4 miles in length. This lovely wilderness hiking trail has a variation in elevation of 587 feet.
